Olympic Table Tennis

Table tennis is a sport, which is also known as ping-pong. In this sport two or four players are participated. They hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth using table tennis rackets. The game is played on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them only one bounce on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. Points are gained when the opposite player fails to return the ball within the rules. Table tennis is a fast game and demands quick reactions. A skilled player can impart several varieties of spin to the ball, change its speed and limiting the opposite side player's options to great advantage.

Table tennis sport is the part of Olympic Games since 1988, with singles and doubles events for both men and women. From 1988 to 2004, these were called as: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles. Since 2008 the doubles have been given a new name, that is the team events.
